“Admire the Changing Seasons” – Public Opening of the Sugimoto Residence (from October 3)

The Sugimoto Residence, a designated National Important Cultural Property and one of Kyoto’s largest traditional kyo-machiya (Kyoto townhouses) dating back over 150 years, will open to the public from Friday, October 3, 2025.

Experience the beauty of autumn in a traditional kyo-machiya (Kyoto townhouse) at the Sugimoto Residence—a serene retreat tucked away in the heart of the city.

※Guided tours (only in Japanese) begin at 10:15, 11:15, 12:15, 13:15, and 14:15, respectively. Please arrive at the venue at the times listed above if you wish to join a tour.
If you do not arrive by the start time, you may choose to either “join the tour partway through” or “explore freely without a guide.”
