Special Opening during the Gion Festival (Saki-matsuri/Ato-matsuri) “The Atmosphere of a Merchant’s House”
When you visit the 150-year-old traditional large-scale Kyomachiya (townhouse) during the Gion Festival period in July, you will experience up close the summer lifestyle and wisdom of our ancestors.
The teahouse offers original amazake, rice gelato, and other sweet treats that are exclusive to this location.
*Due to expected crowding on July 14, 15, and 16, priority admission will be given to those with reservations, and the teahouse will be closed on these days.
During the Saki-matsuri Period (July 5 – 7 and July 14 – 16): “Exhibition of Literati Arts: Kinkishoga (qín qí shū huà)”

A special exhibition will be held from July 14 to 16, featuring an eight-panel folding screen Autumn Grasses painted by Sotatsu Tawaraya and a fan painting Gion-ezu by Mitsuzane Tosa (said to have belonged to Emperor Goyozei).
